: Announcing Easterseals Southeast Wisconsin's New CEO

The Board of Directors of Easterseals Southeast Wisconsin announced today the selection of Peter X. Engel as its President and Chief Executive Officer. In this role, Engel will lead the local organization as it approaches its 85th anniversary in 2019 as a leading provider of disability services across the lifespan in Southeast Wisconsin.
Engel is an experienced and committed leader who has been providing tangible results for people and businesses financial services and non-profit sectors.
 
Roger Schaus, Board Chair, states “Peter is the ideal individual to lead Easterseals in a positive direction.  He brings vast experience in management team building, accountability, and a desire to improve the lives of the individuals served by Easterseals. The Board of Directors has full confidence in his abilities, unanimously approving his appointment.”   
 
Engel shared, “I am excited to join the team at Easterseals working with the great board of directors, employees, clients, and community partners to continue to further the Easterseals’ mission to change the way the world views and defines disabilities.”
 
With more than 30 years in the financial services industry in Wisconsin, Engel has been recognized as a leader committed to his clients and the communities he serves.  Engel retired from Johnson Financial Group in September 2017 where he served as Executive Vice President of Business Development. Throughout his tenure, he also held the positions of Executive Vice President of Consumer Banking and the President of Johnson Bank Milwaukee. Engel most recently served as Founder and Owner of theXcalibur, LLC, providing management expertise and leadership to small privately held companies and non-profits. 
 
Engel’s educational background includes a Master’s Degree in Management from Cardinal Stritch University, Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and graduated the Paralegal Program at Roosevelt University – Chicago.  In 2016, Peter received the Cardinal Stritch University Distinguished Alumni Award for Professional Achievement. In addition, Engel also served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines from 1983-1985.
 
A native of Milwaukee and life-long resident of Southeast Wisconsin, Engel is known for giving back to his community. Over the years, Engel served as a Director on numerous non-profit Boards, including: Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC), Layton Boulevard West Neighbors (LBWN), and the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC).  He served 14 years on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Wisconsin Board of Directors, including as Chairman. He also served on the Finance Committee’s for National Council of Better Business Bureaus in Arlington, VA and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin.  Currently, Engel is on the Board of Directors and Treasurer for the BBB of Wisconsin Foundation, and is the Honorary Co-Chair for Kathy’s House Capital Campaign, a Hospital Guest House providing lodging for families of patients with a serious illness. 
 
Engel and his wife, Katie, reside in Summit, WI.  Their family includes daughter Courtney, Son-in-law Eric Berthelsen, and a white lab named Lottie.
