AQUATIC INVASIVE SPECIES STAFF WINS AWARD FOR AWARENESS VIDEO DURING INVASIVE SPECIES ACTION MONTH

June 11, 2018
(Waukesha, WI) – Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) staff members from the Washington and Waukesha County cooperative program accepted the video challenge award at the 14th Annual Invader Crusader awards ceremony on Wednesday, June 6 at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison. The Invasive Species Action Month video challenge contest is sponsored by the Wisconsin Invasive Species Council and the Department of Natural Resources.

“I’m proud of the excellent efforts our Aquatic Invasive Species team put forth daily to address issues surrounding invasive species in our lakes, rivers and streams,” said Perry Lindquist, Land Resources Manager for Waukesha County. “The ‘Boatbusters’ video submission is an innovative way to spread awareness and help protect Wisconsin’s waters.”

Attendees of the awards ceremony viewed the winning video, a parody of “Ghostbusters,” during the event. “Everyone was very receptive and enjoyed our video,” said Brad Steckart, AIS Coordinator for Washington and Waukesha Counties. “Getting information out to people in a fun way helps us spread our message to a wider audience.”
