AUGUST AT HAWS ECLIPSES ALL OTHER MONTHS!

August 09, 2017
This month may eclipse all other months for excitement for the paws and claws at HAWS, the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County!

In late July HAWS was honored to welcome five dogs rescued from a South Korean meat farm. Four have been cleared for adoption; the fifth dog, Smiley, will be undergoing several orthopedic surgeries. Keep up with #SmileysJourney on social media – and donate to help if you can! Links at hawspets.org.

HAWS’ 10th Annual Pet Fair in Menomonee Falls is Saturday, August 19th from 9am-4pm at Rotary Park (Fond du Lac Ave. at Lilly Rd.). This FREE, pets-welcome event features local vendors of pet products and services, microchipping, games, raffles, food and beverages, plus meet'n'greets with adoptable pets from HAWS and our rescue partners. Bring an item from HAWS’ Wish List and receive a free 5x7 digital image of your pet from Nancy G. Photography. Come, sit, stay – all day!
The Friends of HAWS annual Clothing & Textile Drive is Saturday, August 26th from 10am-3pm, at HAWS in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul. Reduce your carbon pawprint: donate clothing, linens, footwear, accessories and more, worn or worn out! Go green and help 2 great Waukesha organizations.
Do you have a barn, shed, warehouse or winery? Your Property Needs a Pet! Seeking Sanctuary, HAWS placement program for outdoor cats, provides alternative homes to those cats not suited to traditional in-home adoption. For details, contact HAWS at seekingsanctuary@hawspets.org.

PET-cetera: HAWS’ August includes Pet-icures (cats - 8/12 & 22; small animals - 8/9 & 19), great dog training classes, the popular Sunday Puppy Parties...and HAWS’ own Kitty College! Watch for HAWS’ Mobile Adoption Center in your neighborhood. Become a Friend of HAWS – meetings are the second Wednesday of every month at 7pm. Details for all HAWS’ happenings are available at hawspets.org.
Save the date for these great HAWS events this fall:  HAWS’ Annual Meeting – 9/18, Avian Extravaganza – 9/23, Move Your Mutt – 10/8, and the fall fundraiser HAWS Hoedown – 10/20!

HAWS, a non-profit organization established in 1965, assists 8,000 animals each year and welcomes more than 35,000 human visitors to our shelter annually.
As an open admission and full service shelter, HAWS assures sanctuary for animals in need while offering many diverse educational programs and services to promote responsible pet ownership and prevent animal abuse.
