Brookfield Resident, Community Leader Seeking Leukemia & Lymphoma “Man of the Year” Award
Brookfield, Wis. – Todd Ruedt, a Brookfield resident, business owner and community leader, is competing for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s “Man of the Year” award, an election where everyone wins.
Ruedt, who has led an annual benefit golf outing for LLS for more than a decade, hopes to raise $100,000 in his campaign for the honorary title. He is competing against nine other Milwaukee-area candidates.
Ruedt is a certified business coach with ActionCOACH of Elm Grove, where he partners with business owners to grow their companies and make more money. He has owned Grounds Maintenance Services, a Brookfield-based lawn and landscaping services provider, since founding the company in 1999.
Every dollar donated to Ruedt for his “Man of the Year” campaign counts as a vote. All donations are tax deductible, and bolster the fight against blood cancers. Advancements in research and treatment, supported by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, have added to the lifespans of countless blood cancer patients. Many LLS-supported therapies also treat patients suffering from several other forms of cancer.

“I greatly appreciate all the generosity and support that friends, family and the entire community have shown for my campaign,” Ruedt said. “Regardless of who is named Man of the Year, the money we raise will make a huge difference in the lives of people suffering from these terrible diseases. Everyone wins when cancer loses.”
The annual GMAC Golf Outing, which Ruedt started in 2006, has raised more than $100,000 for LLS. His original motivation was to help a close friend diagnosed with leukemia. After two bone marrow transplants, she is alive and cancer-free; the golf outing tees off for the 12th time Aug. 18 at Ironwood Golf Course. The Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin was added as a beneficiary in 2014.
Ruedt has a lengthy resume of community involvement in Brookfield. A 1989 graduate of Brookfield Central High School, he serves as President of the Elmbrook Education Foundation. He was instrumental in creation of the C.A.R.I.N.G. Group, a business-consumer partnership that has raised $15,000 for Elmbrook schools since 2014. He has led drives to collect needed goods for the New Berlin Food Pantry and the Women’s Center.
