Karen Taylor Named Business Consultant for the Center for Growth

December 07, 2016
The Waukesha County Center for Growth, Inc., in partnership with the Waukesha County Business Alliance and the Wisconsin Small Business Development Center (SBDC), has named Karen Taylor as the new Business Consultant for the Center for Growth.

The Center for Growth is a 501(c)(3) created to be the economic development organization for the county and serves as a one-stop-shop for businesses looking to grow and/or expand in Waukesha County.

Taylor will work closely with the Wisconsin SBDC to facilitate improvement and growth for small and emerging mid-size companies, and help launch successful enterprises. This includes working with companies to develop a business growth strategy, offer assistance with financial or operations management, access to targeted loans and support with marketing and sales growth.

“The Wisconsin Small Business Development Center network is excited to partner with the Waukesha County Center for Growth,” said Neil Lerner, associate state director for the Wisconsin SBDC. “Ms. Taylor has the perfect background and experience to add value to companies looking to successfully prepare for and manage growth, including help with obtaining additional financing.“

Taylor comes to this position with 14 years of experience as an oil executive in ExxonMobil Asia Pacific in Singapore, working with the Country Manager and Asia Pacific leadership teams in retail, supply, trading, and HR.  A prior 4-year position with the government agency, International Enterprise Singapore, gave her experience in developing and promoting Singapore tax incentives to a wide range of businesses across the Asia Pacific, United States, and Europe, assisting them in their business expansion plans and trade financing issues.

“I am looking forward to working with small and mid-size businesses on their growth plans in Waukesha County,” Taylor said. “We see ourselves as a resource partner who can provide no-cost, confidential consulting in various areas, including business and financial planning, marketing and sales growth, and operations management.”

Taylor joins Tim Casey, the director of economic development for the Center for Growth. Together they will connect with businesses seeking to grow with municipalities, organizations, and resources that can assist them.

“We are thrilled to have Karen join the team at Center for Growth,” said Casey. “She has the educational and professional background in a variety of settings that will enable her to hit the ground running in working with the small business community in Waukesha County.”

“The partnership with Wisconsin Small Business Development Center is off to a great start,” Casey said. “We appreciate their commitment to providing this enhanced level of service to the local business community.”
