LifeStriders is looking for a Fundraising Event Coordinator

LifeStriders is in search of an Event Coordinator for its 4th Annual Boots & Bling Fundraising Gala and Barn Dance. This is a contract position from March to mid-October – approximately 10 hours per week. However, more time will be needed 1-2 weeks prior to the event. 


For over 13 years LifeStriders has offered therapeutic and life changing services to hundreds of families in South-Eastern WI. Boots & Bling fundraising gala and barn dance is a unique and very special evening helping to raise funds for the program, keeping Veterans programs free of charge and all other programs accessible to families with special needs.

This year Boots & Bling will be held on September 29th, 2018. While being an established event with over 250 guests last year, LifeStriders is looking for someone who can take this event to the next level. Our goal is to raise $75,000 (a 15% increase over last year’s event). 

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Director of Operations to plan and coordinate event details.

  • Schedule, plan and run meetings with the full committee which meets about once a month as well as with individual committee leads.  Meetings are often held in the evenings.

  • Work with all committee leads to ensure progress is being met towards goals.

  • Identify and meet with various vendors to discuss event needs, negotiate pricing and confirm services for event.

  • Help solicit and secure sponsors and auction/raffle items.

  • Work with graphic designer to produce marketing materials (invitation, program, signage, etc) and sponsor recognition.

  • Help manage and oversee events on the day of, including problem-solving, welcoming guests, directing event set-up, communicating with staff and volunteers, and organizing vendors.

Preferred Skills:

  • Must work well under pressure by keeping a calm and friendly demeanor throughout all interactions at all times.

  • Have strong communication, organizational and delegation skills.

  • Be comfortable working with computers and basic software programs.

  • Must be comfortable soliciting.

  • Must have prior experience coordinating philanthropic fundraising events.

  • Be creative and innovative to work well within a budget.

 
Position Stipend: $8,500
