New Appleton-area retailer supports youth, education and family-friendly experiences in the Fox Valley
Grand Chute, Wis. – Meijer, the one-stop shopping supercenter scheduled to open in Grand Chute on May 17, is pleased to announce community partnerships throughout the Fox Valley.
To celebrate the Grand Chute Meijer opening, the retailer will donate $25,000 to the Appleton Public Schools, including “adopting” Jefferson Elementary School and Highlands Elementary School.
“We take great pride in providing an enriching educational experience for Appleton students,” Grand Chute Meijer Store Director Joel Robles said. “In today’s environment, support from community partners is especially critical, which is why we are so grateful that Meijer is demonstrating its commitment to our community through support of our local schools.”
A family-owned company, Meijer prides itself on treating customers like family and supporting the communities it serves, returning 6 percent of its net profits back to the community through giving programs, community support efforts and the company’s signature Simply Give program, the hallmark of its hunger relief efforts.
Since its inception, this program has generated more than $37 million for Midwestern food pantries to stock their shelves. Through the retailer’s local partners in the St. Joseph Food Pantry in Menasha and the Fox Cities Salvation Army, the Simply Give program will now be generating meals for Fox Valley families as well.
Here’s how it works: When the Grand Chute store opens on May 17, the spring Simply Give campaign will be underway. Customers are encouraged to purchase a $10 Simply Give donation card upon checkout. Once purchased, the donation is matched by Meijer, converted into a Meijer Food-Only Gift Card and donated directly to the St. Joseph Food Pantry and the Fox Cities Salvation Army to meet the immediate needs of the families they are currently serving.
“Meijer is excited to become a bigger part of the Fox Valley Community by supporting its residents, its students and local families,” Robles said. “We’re a family-owned company so supporting families and youth has always been a core value of our business model.”
