ST. JOSEPH’S MEDICAL CLINIC RECEIVES GRANT AWARD FROM
WAUKESHA COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION WOMEN AND GIRLS FUND
(06/12/2017) Immediate St. Joseph’s Medical Clinic, Inc., a free clinic serving Waukesha County, is a grant recipient of a new grant award. The clinic was honored to receive $8,000 from the Waukesha County Community Foundation Women and Girls Fund.

Jessica Osenbrügge, Executive Director of the clinic explained, “We are thrilled to be the first-time grant recipients of the Women and Girls Fund in 2017. We have several women accessing the clinic for services and this has steadily increased in the past 12 months. This critical funding will go a long way in supporting women’s health initiatives, and help each woman achieve her individualized health goals”. St. Joseph’s Medical Clinic offers a monthly Women’s Health Clinic to help uninsured women needing preventive and medical care. Services included exam, PAP, pelvic exam, manual breast exam, and referral for needed follow-up services. The 2015 Milwaukee Healthcare Partnership Community Health Needs Assessment shows that 12% of women in the community did not receive women’s health screenings including PAP within the recommended time frames. These screenings are critical in detecting cervical cancer and other reproductive health issues. Mammograms is a women’s health focus that is important towards preventive breast health. The Robert Woods Johnson Foundation annual county ranking portrays that in 2017, Waukesha County is showing a less than optimal measure in mammography screening. St. Joseph’s Medical Clinic partners with ProHealth Care’s Hispanic Health Resource Center to increase access to screening and diagnostic mammograms. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends annual screenings at the age of 40 to help prevent the second leading cause of death from cancer for women.
St. Joseph’s Medical Clinic hosts weekly primary care clinics on Monday evenings at the Waukesha Family Practice Center at 210 NW Barstow Street in downtown Waukesha. Walk-ins are also welcome! On Wednesday morning and Thursday evenings, clinic sessions are available by appointment only at 826 N. East Ave in downtown Waukesha. In addition the monthly Women’s Health clinic, St. Joseph’s Medical Clinic hosts a monthly Podiatry and Physical Therapy clinic. Additional services include medications, lab and diagnostic testing, health education and information sessions, insurance enrollment, and Homeless and Latino Health Outreach programs.
St. Joseph’s Medical Clinic, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, assists uninsured or underinsured individuals and operates with a small core staff and volunteer medical providers from local healthcare systems. Helping patients understand how to manage their health including nutrition education and exercise along with support in coordinating medical care with local healthcare systems and community resources is a core component of the clinic’s medical care.
