SPECIAL ONE-DAY ELECTRONICS AND APPLIANCE RECYCLING EVENT

April 02, 2018
(WAUKESHA, WI) – The Village of Hartland will be hosting a special one-day collection of household electronics and appliances open to any Waukesha County resident on Saturday, April 14 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The collection will take place at 701 Progress Drive.
State law bans electronics and appliances from landfills and incinerators due to the valuable materials that can be recycled and reused, including precious metals like gold and copper.  Many devices also contain hazardous materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium and chemical flame retardants that need to be disposed of properly.  This collection assists residents to comply with State law and provide options for responsible recycling of used, household electronics and appliances.
Items that will be collected at the event for a cash only fee include television sets ($25 each) and Cathode Ray Tube computer monitors ($10 each).  No broken or de-manufactured television or computer units will be accepted.  Only these additional items will be collected at no fee: computers, other computer monitors, printers, keyboards, laptops, scanners, DVD players, VCRs, stereos, cell phones, telephones, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, microwaves, watercoolers, freezers, water heaters, washer/dryers, stoves, oven/ranges, dishwashers.
These collection events are for household electronics and appliances only.  Businesses are required by Wisconsin law to recycle and there are several options to contract for these services listed on our website.
The City of Muskego will host the next collection event on Saturday, May 12 at W182 S8200 Racine Avenue from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  For a list of upcoming events, proper disposal of other electronics and appliances not accepted at these events, business recycling options and locations to recycle broken or de-manufactured units, visit waukeshacounty.gov/recycling or call 262-896-8300.
