Special One-Day Electronics and Appliance Recycling Event for the Village of Mukwonago

November 29, 2018
SPECIAL ONE-DAY ELECTRONICS AND APPLIANCE
RECYCLING EVENT

(WAUKESHA, WI) – The Village of Mukwonago will be hosting a special one-day collection of household electronics and appliances open to any Waukesha County resident on Saturday, December 8 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The collection will take place at 630 E. Veterans Way.
State law bans electronics and appliances from landfills and incinerators due to the valuable materials that can be recycled and reused, including precious metals like gold and copper.  Many devices also contain hazardous materials such as lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium and chemical flame retardants that need to be disposed of properly.  This collection assists residents to comply with State law and provide options for responsible recycling of used, household electronics and appliances.
Items that will be collected at the event for a cash only fee include television sets ($25 each) and Cathode Ray Tube computer monitors ($10 each).  Intact, non-working television or computer units will be accepted. Broken or de-manufactured units will not be accepted.  These additional items will be collected at no fee: computers, other computer monitors, printers, keyboards, laptops, scanners, DVD players, VCRs, stereos, cell phones, telephones, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, refrigerators, microwaves, watercoolers, freezers, water heaters, washer/dryers, stoves, oven/ranges, dishwashers.
These collection events are for household electronics and appliances only. Businesses are required by Wisconsin law to recycle and there are several options to contract for these services listed on our website, waukeshacounty.gov/recycling.
