Sunset Soiree Raises Funds for Historic Restoration Projects at Old World Wisconsin

Eagle, WI---Through the generous support of guests to this new fundraising event, Old World Foundation was able to raise $16,000 for historic restoration projects at Old World Wisconsin.  Sunset Soiree was an enchanted evening celebrating historic restoration at Old World Wisconsin.

Old World Wisconsin, located in southern Waukesha Co. is an outdoor living history attraction with over 60 historic buildings, 100 animals, 20 heirloom gardens, and nearly 100 costumed facilitators and volunteers who bring history to life for approximately 60,000 visitors each year.  The historic buildings that stand at Old World Wisconsin were relocated from towns and villages around Wisconsin to be preserved.  These buildings set the stage for interactive historic exploration to begin.

Only 152 tickets were available to this exclusive event that will become an annual tradition.  Guests enjoyed Italian and German appetizers and entertainment in the Crossroads Village at Old World Wisconsin complete with wine, beer, handcrafted root beer and iced tea and coffee.  In addition, guests could have their picture taken, meet the new team of Belgian Horses, play a historic game, and tour the Irish Immigrant Home to see first-hand the need to restore and preserve these historic treasures.  Following the cocktail hour, guests were treated to live dinner music and a threecourse meal catered by The Black Sheep (Whitewater) paired with wine from Staller Estate Winery (Delavan) or beer from Sprecher Brewery.  Restoration Rhubarb Punch was also served.  After dinner an exciting live auction with nine unique destination packages/experiences and a paddle-raise for historic restoration projects took place.

Gwen Griffin, Executive Director of Old World Foundation, stated that she is thrilled that this new event was so well received by those who support Old World Wisconsin through Old World Foundation.  Those interested in attending next year should mark their calendars for August 8, 2020 when a different project or program will be highlighted.
