‘THE GLOBAL BIG LATCH ON’ TO BE HELD SATURDAY, AUGUST 3rd 

Waukesha County’s Breastfeeding Coalition & Public Health Host Worldwide Event
 
(WAUKESHA, WI) – The Waukesha County Public Health Division of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as a member of the Waukesha County Breastfeeding Coalition will host ‘The Global Big Latch On’, Saturday August 3, 2019. The Big Latch On takes place at registered locations throughout the globe where women gather to ‘latch on’ or breastfeed, their children. Last year approximately 60,000 people worldwide participated at 778 events in 28 countries. The event functions to connect families with each other and normalize breastfeeding as part of everyday life. The event in Waukesha County will be held Saturday on the plaza next to the Brookfield Farmers’ Market, 2000 N. Calhoun Rd, Brookfield, during World Breastfeeding Week, August 1-7, 2019. Rain location is in the Brookfield Senior Center, immediately adjacent. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The Latch On occurs at 10:30 a.m. Those interested in participating are encouraged to bring their family and a blanket or chair. The Waukesha County Breastfeeding Coalition (WCBFC) was formed one year ago. The Coalition serves as a collective, consistent source of information on breastfeeding and provides strong advocacy for breastfeeding moms and families. Coalition meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month, 8:30-9:30 a.m., at the Waukesha County Human Services Center, 514 Riverview Ave, Waukesha.
