Three Pillars Residents and Staff Support Local Students with "Back to School" Donations

600 hand-crafted bookmarks, barrels of school supplies, and monetary donations help local families in need start the school year right.

Dousman, Wis. August 12, 2019 - It was a happy day for Three Pillars residents and staff as school supplies and monetary gifts for St. Vincent de Paul's Waukesha County Back-to-School program and Dousman Elementary School were tallied. Overflowing barrels of crisp notebooks, colorful pencils, new backpacks, and more were gathered from around the Three Pillars campus at the conclusion of the drive. Residents, staff, and visitors contributed, coming together to connect and contribute locally in celebration of Older Americans Month in May.

Monetary donations went to Dousman Elementary School and St. Vincent de Paul's Back-to-School program to offset costs of supplies for families in need. Supplies were delivered to enthusiastic St. Vincent de Paul volunteers who sorted and prepped them to be packed into a backpack for each student. And perhaps best of all, an astonishing 600 motivational, cheerful bookmarks, each thoughtfully handmade by a Three Pillars resident, were given to each supply pack.

St. Vincent de Paul's Back-to-School program helps struggling Waukesha County families get their children off to a good school start with a backpack full of supplies and a gift card for new shoes. Dousman Elementary School's mission is to strive for excellence by promoting curiosity, individuality, and responsibility, and to challenge children to reach their full potential, becoming life-long learners.
