United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County Names Amy Lindner President and CEO

Milwaukee, WI – January 25 – United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County announced the retirement of Mary Lou Young and the appointment of Amy Lindner as president and CEO.
 
Amy Lindner joined United Way as president in January of 2018 and helped the organization reach its annual Community Campaign goal of $56 million. Previously, Lindner served as president and CEO of Meta House, a Milwaukee-based nonprofit and United Way program partner agency. Lindner will be the first Latina president and CEO of United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County. 
 
The United Way Board of Directors also recognized and celebrated the retirement of Mary Lou Young. Young served as president and CEO of United Way between 2009 and 2018, and as CEO through January 2019. Under Young’s leadership, the organization saw substantial growth in fundraising, volunteerism, and community impact. In 2015, Young oversaw the merger of the former United Way of Greater Milwaukee and United Way in Waukesha County.
 
“I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from Mary Lou over this past year,” said Lindner. “I am deeply honored to lead United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County and build on its rich history of strengthening our local communities and fighting for the health, education, and financial stability of every person.”
