Vrakas Promotions from Manager to Principal
Sara M. Johnson, CPA - Previously a manager, Johnson has been promoted to Principal in the firm's audit department. Johnson began her career as an intern for the firm in the spring of 2009 and joined the professional staff in 2010 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Masters of Professional Accountancy. Johnson is a member of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). She also holds an advanced Defined Contribution Plans Audit Certificate as issued by the AICPA.
Paul A. Rothering, CPA - Previously a manger, Rothering has been promoted to Principal in the firm's audit department. Rothering began his career as an intern for the firm in the spring of 2010 and joined the professional staff in 2011 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Masters of Professional Accountancy. Rothering is a member of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He also sits on the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Accounting Advisory Board.
As Audit Principals, their primary roles at the firm include leading financial statement audit/review engagements and advising clients on a variety of topics including implications of new accounting standards, merger and acquisition matters and other financial reporting topics. They work with privately-held, for-profit companies, including private equity and ESOP owned companies, across a variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, service, retail and construction.
Johnson has also taken the lead role in managing and growing the firm's employee benefit plan audit practice, which now processes over 120 plan audits annually, and Rothering plays an integral role in the firm's recruiting efforts and has taken a lead role in the audit department's fin-tech group established to maximize use of technology as part of the department's policies and procedures.
