WAUKESHA COUNTY 2019-2023 CAPITAL PLAN DETAILS INCREASED SECURITY MEASURES, LONG-TERM COST SAVINGS W

September 04, 2018
(WAUKESHA, WI) – Construction of a new Waukesha County Courthouse will improve security, address aging and out-of-date facility systems, and streamline operations, as detailed in the 2019 – 2023 Capital Projects Plan. The Plan includes funding for all major projects to be proposed in the County budget over the next five years, such as road, facility, and parks projects, as well as investments in technology. The Waukesha County Board of Supervisors is currently reviewing the Plan and is anticipated to vote on it on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.

“This Capital Projects Plan is the culmination of years of budgeting and planning to ensure our facilities best meet the needs of our justice and public safety system, our staff, and members of the public who conduct business every day in our Courthouse,” said Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow. “Updating out-of-date systems will create new efficiencies to absorb some project costs, while enhancing safety and streamlining operations in the long-term.”

The Waukesha County Courthouse Project will occur in two-phases to expand and modernize the facilities. Construction on a new, secure courtroom facility will begin next spring. In 2022, renovation will begin on the existing courthouse structure, built in 1959, to update aging mechanical systems, create a more efficient layout, and increase accessibility.
