WAUKESHA COUNTY CHILD SUPPORT DIVISION RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE
to surpass all four federal performance measures in a single year. To recognize the achievement, the
Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, Bureau of Child Support has awarded the agency a
Certificate of Excellence for fiscal year 2017.
“This award is the result of the hard work and dedication of our staff,” said Waukesha County Executive
Paul Farrow. “Strategic planning is an important part of how Waukesha County does business each and
every day. Our Child Support Division used that foundation of best practices to improve year-by-year,
until they achieved a level of a success outmatched any other county of comparable size.”
The Certificate of Excellence recognizes a child support agency that has met or exceeded annual state
performance goals in four areas: court order establishment, paternity establishment, current support
collections and child support arrears collections. On each measures except paternity, Waukesha County
broke every record in its recorded history.
Court Order Establishment: Waukesha County achieved 93.06%; the state target is 80%.
Paternity Establishment: Waukesha County achieved 101.33%; the state target is 90%.
Current Support Collections: Waukesha County achieved 81.14%; the state target is 80%. In
2016, Waukesha County became the largest ever to reach the state target. In 2017, the county
built off that success, improving nearly a full percentage point over the previous year.
Arrears Case Collections: Waukesha County achieved 81.06%; the state target is 80%. This was
the first time in Waukesha’s history to reach the state target. It is the largest agency ever to make
that benchmark.
